Alaska From 13,000 Feet

Here are some pictures I took from the plane as we flew to Fairbanks yesterday. This portion of the trip only took about 45 minutes. I would have taken better photos but I forgot to take my camera out of my backpack before putting it in storage. As a result I had to use my cell phone instead. They turned out fairly nicely anyway though.

We had to fly over a mountain range or two and while they're usually visible, this portion of Alaska has had a good bit of cloud cover recently. I might get a glimpse on my way back to Hawaii though.

As we were about 20 minutes out from Fairbanks we dropped below the clouds and got an eye full of Alaska's mountains. It is definitely something you don't get too many chances to see in your life time.

Finally, we left the mountains and flew over some marshlands during our descent into Fairbanks. Apparently I've arrived at a good time of the year for hiking and trekking about in the wild. The snow has just started to melt and the lakes are thawing too.

Well, that'll do it for now. I haven't quite figured out what my working objectives are right now (my tasks have waaay too wide a range) and I have a meeting to prepare for in the morning. I'll try to get away from work long enough to see some wilderness this weekend. Until then, peace out.
